memory loss

by Annabelle A., 16

I melt into the cold water
Unlearning years of my life
Falling out of love with time
And the space I take up

The indent of my Earth
I can still feel
Where you once were,
My shining Autumn

What is there to do
When the truth is so cold
It makes you shudder?
Because I am cursed to remember
All the ways you could
Forget me

I’ll hold on to everything
How the ground felt underneath me
How your eyes lit up
How the grass smelled
Until everything goes wrong
