the sight not found in seeing eyes

by Charlotte B., 14

The laughter
of children
resides not in delicate cradles
and posed photographs.
The joy
of innocence

cannot be found within glassy eyes
and painted-on smiles.
The texture
of life’s toll

is not reflected by smooth mirrors
and flawless china dolls.
A person’s story
will not be found
in perfection.
