train ride

by Reese C., 17

Keep my heart
and hold me back
I’ll ride this train to my restart
for I’ll find no love in my parent’s walls
and you’ll beckon me back with your siren’s call
but I feel safe in my sinner’s cell
and I feel the pain of a crime against myself
so chase my truths with your mummer’s bell
as you tell me your lies, cruel and fell

Keep my heart
and hold me back
I’ll ride this train to my restart
and I’ll hide my face cause it’s tear streaked
and the hinge on my heart shuts with a creak
yet I’ll do my best not to blame you
but the hate I bear is through and through
and you tore down my walls, which is not easy to do
so I rejoiced while the sky embraced a dimmer hue

Keep my heart
and hold me back
I’ll ride this train to my restart
And I, will know myself
And I, will seek true wealth
And I, will spare my health
And I, will leave your shelf

So crawl out of your hole and stand where I’ve been

Live and die in your chagrin
